This is Malcolm Peralty here from PressTitan and this is The WP Minute, Episode 34

Over on WPTavern, Sarah has a post about AMP for WordPress. It looks like the plugin is close to its 1.0 release and I am looking forward to seeing what happens with it. AMP, for those of you that don’t know, is Accelerated Mobile Pages. It has been around for three years and is a pet project of Google’s to try to speed up websites so you don’t have to wait forever for pretty designs to get the content you want.

I have used AMP a few times on projects but haven’t noticed any big SEO benefit or user benefit from doing so.

On Twitter today, I found out that the BackupWordPress plugin developed by HumanMade has been taken over by XIBO, as part of that transition, they’ll no longer sell paid add-ons, nor will they support them. They then go on to point to UpdraftPlus and link to a comparison that doesn’t make BackupWordPress look very good.

On WP Couple, they have a post that is basically a love letter to Gravity Forms. I used to work for Rocketgenius, and have always been a big supporter of their plugin, so I can’t help but point out an article that agrees with me: Gravity Forms is super powerful and worth every penny.

That’s it for today’s WP Minute, thank you all for watching.
