This is Malcolm Peralty here from PressTitan and this is The WP Minute, Episode 114
I didn’t receive any feedback regarding Friday’s episode, so I’m going to assume shorter is better for most of you and go back to my normal way of doing episodes for now. If that’s not the case, and you liked the longer episode format that I used for episode 113, let me know.
WordPress 5.0 Release Candidate 2 is out, and there is no set date for the final release of WordPress 5.0 yet. They continue to fix bugs, work on accessibility and internationalization. I kind of expect WordPress 5.0 to drop during Matt’s speech at WordCamp US or maybe a day before. This would mean a release of December 7th or 8th though I’m hopeful that I’m wrong and they’ll wait until January.
Speaking of Matt’s speech, Matt Mullenweg has put out a tweet asking for interesting examples of Gutenberg in use. It looks like he is building out his slide deck for WordCamp US. There have been a ton of examples tossed his way. It’ll be interesting to see which ones make the cut.
Lastly, over on WPTavern, there is a post discussing WordCamp Europe’s search for a host city for their 2020 event. The 2019 edition will be held in Berlin, but because like WordCamp US, it is such a large event, they have to start the planning early. Read the full article for details on how they organize these kinds of WordCamps and what the requirements are to be a host city.
That’s it for today’s WP Minute, thank you all for watching.
