WordPress 5.1 Beta 2 is out. The next version of WordPress is due out in less than a month, and over 110 tickets have been closed since beta 1. The post on the WordPress.org blog doesn’t say a lot about fixes or new features, but this is shaping up to be an important release.

Over on the PippinsPlugins blog, there is a huge year in review post that gives a ton of details on various premium plugins put out by the Sandhills Development team. It goes over staffing changes, revenue, plans for the future and so much more. While reading it, I feel like I’ve been given some behind the curtains private access that no one else gets. There is so much transparency here that I am blown away. If you’ve ever wanted to see what six plus years of company growth looks like, check out all of the year in review posts that Pippin Williamson has put out.

Do you want to see what core widgets becoming blocks looks like? Well on WP Tavern, they have some information as well as an animation that will give you a peek into what it might be like. I think it might take some time for phase 2 of Gutenberg to be complete as there are many screens and functions within the WordPress admin that will need change and refinement.

That’s it for today’s WP Minute, thank you all for watching.
