The WP Minute – Episode 144

Show Script
This is Malcolm Peralty here from PressTitan and this is The WP Minute, Episode 144

My first story today is an article on Colin Nelson’s blog and it talks about how small “d” developers are being left behind in modern best practices being applied to WordPress development. I have to admit that the increase of JavaScript in WordPress is something I’m a little concerned about as it is a language that I’m currently very weak in and even more so when you add a layer of React on top as a requirement.

WordFence Central was announced and premiered today. It is a central spot to manage the security of multiple WordPress sites running WordFence and it looks great. I am always happy to see opportunities to do things in bulk in WordPress as I help manage a ton of WordPress websites.

Lastly, on the WebDevStudios blog, they talk about developing a WordPress theme in the Gutenberg or modern block-based editor days of WordPress. There are some additional caveats to theme development now, so if you have developed a WordPress theme, or have a custom WordPress theme, you might want to look at this article.

That’s it for today’s WP Minute, thank you all for watching.
