This is Malcolm Peralty here from PressTitan and this is The WP Minute, Episode 145

How long should juvenile mistakes haunt you? That’s the question being asked today in an article on WPTavern that talks about Joost de Valk being called out for objectifying women a decade ago. It looks like it might have primarily been just some playful messing around between friends that have since been taken out of context and Joost has come out to apologize for his actions and words, but is that enough? Read the full article to learn more.

CodeinWP has a great article showing off the progression of WordPress themes from 2003 to today. I’ve been around for all of the changes, so it has a huge nostalgia factor to it for me. It covers themes like the original theme shipped with WordPress, Kubrick and all the way to what’s happening today with page builders and block editors. Even if you haven’t been around for fifteen years of WordPress changes, it is still really great to look back on.

WordPress 5.1 Release Candidate 1 is out. WordPress 5.1 is still scheduled to be released on February 21st, so we only have two weeks to shake any of the bugs out. One of the big features of this release is the Site Health area which will notify you if you are running an old version of PHP. Will this be the version of WordPress you update to? Our clients are still satisfied with the current version of WordPress, but at PressTitan we’ve been testing WordPress 5.1 and will be recommending they upgrade to it once it is fully released.

That’s it for today’s WP Minute, thank you all for watching.
