This is Malcolm Peralty here from PressTitan and this is The WP Minute, Episode 65

Over on Kinsta’s blog, they have a post about why you should stop using nulled WordPress plugins and themes. For those of you that don’t know, nulled means that they are being distributed without support or upgrades and sometimes have their code changed in one way or another.

The article is interesting, but I think the discussions happening in the comments are even more so. One comment highlights how insane some pricing for things has become in the WordPress ecosystem and the other mistakenly says that premium or paid WordPress plugins that aren’t on the WordPress directory aren’t required to be GPL.

WPExplorer highlights five tools to test your WordPress website’s performance. I’ve heard and used all of these options and feel like those that run websites should be more aware of what these tools are saying. I also think that people should try to run multiple different tools as they sometimes test in different ways, from different places and for different things.

My favourite from their list is GTmetrix, so if you’ve never tried it out on your site, I suggest that you do.

That’s it for today’s WP Minute, thank you all for watching.
