Okay, ACF’s implementation of Gutenberg blocks makes me excited. Seeing how custom post type layouts could be done using ACF and Gutenberg is really interesting. It is a little clunky switching between the data input and then the display of what that data will look like, but overall, it brings a level of control and complexity to Gutenberg that will make the drag and drop interface feel more useful to me.

Advanced Custom Fields put out a detailed post regarding ACF 5.8 and what they’ve done to make it feel integrated in such a nice way. They also provide a way to easily create your own blocks without knowing a bunch of JavaScript, something that I’ve mentioned previously in another episode of this show.

The new version is currently in beta, so if you have a license, check it out. I know I will.

DevriX has a post about how to scale WordPress. Many of the tips, tricks and pieces of advice on how to scale WordPress is very similar to the advice we give people on how to make WordPress faster. The post explains some of the bottlenecks your website might be experiencing and provides advice on how to resolve some of them. It is a great primer for someone reasonably technical to get their site set up in such a way that it can get a ton more traffic.

That’s it for today’s WP Minute, thank you all for watching.
