This is Malcolm Peralty here from PressTitan and this is The WP Minute, Episode 88
I wonder if we are going to see a slow transition to other platforms as Gutenberg continues to integrate into the WordPress experience? Well, Justin Tadlock isn’t waiting around and has already made the transition. He talks about his custom CMS on his site.
A quick check on GTMetrix shows the site loading in under a second with a PageSpeed Score of A and a YSlow score of A. Not too bad at all! Though his homepage doesn’t really seem to need images, which helps.
Speaking of other CMS systems, Expression Engine has announced that it will be going open source and free. Does anyone remember Expression Engine? I don’t know anyone that uses it currently, but I’m sure there are a few people out there. Will you try it out now that it is free?
This might be a weird thing to talk about, but the founder of WP Buffs, a competitor in some ways, has created a course on how to build your own WP Buffs style business. It is called WPMRR and not only do they have a paid course, but also a free podcast that focuses on business. I can’t speak for how good or bad the course is, but I enjoyed the banter in their first podcast.
That’s it for today’s WP Minute, thank you all for watching.
