This is Malcolm Peralty here from PressTitan and this is The WP Minute, Episode 98
The first thing worth mentioning is that you might want to start testing WordPress 5.0 with WooCommerce if you run a WooCommerce site. It sounds like you won’t be able to use older versions of WooCommerce with the next version of WordPress as they’ve posted in their release notes for version 3.5.1.
Jeff Chandler has posted an update on his experiences working and writing with Gutenberg. Last week he covered how frustrating it was to use and while his overall opinion hasn’t changed, he did write an updated set of steps on how to complete the task he was frustrated with. The issue really seems to be how unintuitive things will become with Gutenberg.
In that article, he points to another entitled WordPress 5.0 is not ready. His opinions are interesting and I understand his hesitation. I think the whole WordPress community is kind of holding its breath to see what happens with WordPress 5.0, but if you have any time to help point out bugs, write documentation, or actually code solutions, get in there and lend a hand!
Lastly, there is an article on Freemius that talks about getting rejected from submitting a theme to ThemeForest. I didn’t know they rejected anyone. I’m joking of course, but it is an interesting read and if you’ve ever thought about getting into the premium theme or plugin space for WordPress, this might help you gain some clarity on what you need to do to get accepted by the larger marketplaces, if that’s even what you’ll want to do.
That’s it for today’s WP Minute, thank you all for watching.
